Medicine Department


Overview
The Medicine department at MPSMC, Jamnagar runs OPD on daily bases on all the working days. Patients are given indoor care as and when required in respective male and female wards. Rounds of the patients admitted in the wards are taken at least twice a day. This department also checks fitness of the patients before any major or minor operations whenever required. Physical fitness of the candidates for job placement is also done by this department on fixed days of the week. This department provides emergency care for the patients for 24 hours on all the days of week.

a)       A Separate Unit is established for Dialysis in G. G. Hospital, Jamnagar.

b)    AKDU is placed in a separate room at 9th Floor Covid –A building and is carrying out Hemodialysis for all needy CRF pateints in and around Jamnagar District.

c)       It has 22 (20+2)  Dialysis Machines out of which two are kept reserved for HBsAg & HCV Positive patients.

d)    Dialysis is carried out free of charge for all patients in out institute. Also all the equipments required for dialysis are provided free of cost.

e)       The dialysis unit is working for all days, round the clock and doing routine as well as emergency dialysis as per the requirement of the patients.

f)      During urgent dialysis, central lines and other necessary equipments are provided free of cost to the patients.

g)         Peritoneal dialysis facilities are available when needed.

h)    All CRF patients are also provided EPO, HBsAg Vaccine and Inj. Iron Sucrose free of cost.

    Participation in National Programs.

1.         National viralhepatitis control programe(NVHCP) and ART PLUS Center:- A.R.T center isestablished under dept of medicine and functional since 28.03.2009.

We provide free counselling, diagnosis and treatment for commonOpportunistic infection, CPT, and lifelong ART medicine (1st, 2nd, and 3rdline) to PLHIVs At A.R.T Center, G.G. Govt. hospital.

Till 30.08.2024 4622 PLHIV (People living with HIV/AIDS) have beenregistered with our ART center and out of these 3,968 have been started onlifelong ART medicine. Out of initiated on ART medicine currently 1,878patients are alive and on-treatment following up with us.

Currently daily OPD load approximately 55-60 patients.

 

MTC (Model Treatment center) under NVHCP (National Viral HepatitisProgram) was established under dept. of medicine and is functional via A.R.Tcenter, G.G. Govt. hospital, Jamnagar since Jan-2020.

 

We register patients having confirmed positive HBsAg / HCV infection andperform free HCV RNA and HBV DNA baseline / follow-up testing along with otherbaseline/routine ix as well provide free DAA (Directly acting anti-viral) toeligible HCV patients and anti-viral to patient having chronic HBV infections.

 

Under HCV vertical total 209 pts have been registered till 30.08.23. outof which 73 have been started on treatment. Out of 74 initiated on treatment 64have completed DAA treatment for HCV and 36 patients have achieved SVR aftertreatment. 4 patients are currently undergoing treatment currently.

 

Under HBV vertical total 527 pats have been registered till 30.08.23. andtotal 122 pts have been started and are continuing on lifelong anti-viraltherapy.

2.NCD CLINIC:-

Average monthly-6000 to 7000 patients of non communicable diseases visitthis clinic and all related care is provided.
